Gardyn targets consumers seeking to grow their own fresh produce but lack the space and/or capabilities to do so. The company produces a compact vertical farming system that can be located in a small apartment. The growing system uses “Kelby” software to automate most of the growing process, such as circulating water and nutrients and monitoring growth. The system can cultivate up to 30 plants at a time including herbs, leafy greens, flowers, cherry tomatoes and jalapenos.
Gardyn just raised USD 10 million in a Series A funding round led by JAB Holding Company. This new round brings the company’s total funding to USD 15 million.
