Sparrow is a leave management platform that automates federal, state, and local regulation-compliant filings for employee leave in the US and Canada. It also offers a dedicated leave specialist to support employees with Sparrow’s leave and financial planning tools, guide businesses to set up leave policies according to regulations and industry standards, and provide management training and support. 

The company’s offering includes payroll solutions such as automated payroll calculation, custom payroll reports, and payroll reconciliation assistance. The platform can be integrated with existing HRIS such as Workday and BambooHR, third-party insurance providers such as MetLife and Unum, and the California Employment Development Department (CA EDD). 

Key customers and partnerships

Sparrow’s customers include notable brands such as Headspace, Zapier and Webflow (May 2024).

Funding and financials

In February 2022, Sparrow raised USD 20 million in a Series A funding round led by WndrCo. The fresh funds were earmarked for accelerating its sales, marketing, and product development activities in North America as well as filling several key positions in its engineering, product, operations, sales, and marketing teams. As of June 2023, the company noted that it saved over USD 100 million in payroll costs for its customers.
