HomeX provides a platform to connect homeowners with technicians for physical and virtually guided home repairs. The company intends to become a market leader in the tech-enabled homeowner repairs space, spearheading the industry’s digital transformation.

HomeX aims to create a hybrid space within the home maintenance market, combining the traditional repair approach with technology to reduce the burden and costs shouldered by homeowners while optimizing services rendered and convenience for repair technicians. The company employs knowledge engineering, machine learning, and natural language processing allowing users to virtually assess damages and projects through the platform, and when possible, guide them through performing the repair themselves. When the technology detects the need for a professional, homeowners are then matched with a technician who will execute the repairs in person. 

For one-on-one guidance on repairs, the company charges USD 20 for small tasks such as fixing frozen pipes and cleaning dirty HVAC filters. Meanwhile, the medium (e.g. faulty switch) and big (e.g. faucet replacement) tasks cost USD 35 and USD 50, respectively.

In August 2024, the company acquired Princeton Air, expanding its presence in New Jersey. This was HomeX's 17th acquisition since 2017 and supports its goal to expand its service offerings and team and help HomeX accelerate its growth in the Northeast region.

The company indicated that the Covid-19 pandemic has bolstered its virtual diagnostic and repair solution, HomeX Remote Assist, claiming 400% growth in 2020.
