Hydraloop

Hydraloop is a Netherlands-based company that designs and produces decentralized smart water recycling products. Hydraloop collects, treats, and re-uses the water from showers, baths, washers, dryers, heat pumps, and air conditioning units and recycles it into water that can be reused for toilet flushing, laundry, garden irrigation, and topping up swimming pools. The company asserts that, depending on setup and user habits, its systems can save between 25%–45% of the total in-house water consumption. Hydraloop sells through a B2B model to partners and focuses mainly on new construction projects for both the residential and commercial markets. Besides its Dutch operations, the company maintains offices in the US, Dubai, Canada, and Australia, serving a global market. Since its commercial launch in November 2017, Hydraloop has installed hundreds of systems throughout Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

Hydraloop’s patented technology recycles greywater without the use of filters, membranes, or chemicals and combines six different technologies: Sedimentation, floatation, dissolved air floatation, foam fractionation, an aerobic bioreactor, and disinfection of the cleaned water with UV light. The company offers water-recycling products in various sizes to meet different needs, including the Hydraloop H300 (300-liter volume, 360-liter cleaning capacity) for single-family homes; the Hydraloop H600 (600-liter volume, 850-liter cleaning capacity) for single-family homes or small businesses; the Hydraloop Concealed (150-liter volume, 200-liter cleaning capacity) for individuals or couples; and the Hydraloop Cascade (any volume/cleaning capacity) for multi-family homes or businesses. Every Hydraloop device is monitored online and 24/7 through a remote server. 

The Hydraloop Concealed begins at USD 1,995 and started pre-orders in January 2023; sales, delivery, and installation are slated through 2023 via its partner network. Other Hydraloop units start at EUR 3,275 in Europe and USD 4,000 in the US.

Key customers and partnerships

In early 2022, Hydraloop partnered with Bowersox Investment Group to implement its water-recycling systems in communities nationwide, beginning with a 140 single-home community in Clarksville, Georgia. In April 2022, Hydraloop partnered with Youth Spirit Artworks to have the Hydraloop system fully operational in the Tiny House Empowerment Village assisting the village's water conservation efforts. As of June 2022, Hydraloop works with over 140 local sales, distribution, and service partners. 

Funding and financials

The company raised EUR 4.5 million (~USD 4.9 million) in crowdfunding led by AMAVI Capital, with co-investments from The Future of Water Fund in June 2022. The company also secured an undisclosed investment from NOM, a Dutch development agency, in September 2022, to expand its product portfolio, strengthen its partner network, and set up decentralized assembly lines in several countries.
