Illumio provides a zero-trust security platform for enterprises to protect their cloud networks and endpoint devices. Illumio uses a novel micro-segmentation approach that segregates cloud networks and endpoints at an individual level to prevent the lateral movement of malware and other infections across the networks. The company’s cloud security services are offered via its “Illumio Core” platform while its endpoint security offering is delivered via the “Illumio Edge” platform featuring a low-overhead agent which is only 10 megabytes in size.
In June 2021, the company launched the Illumio app for Splunk, an application that provides improved cybersecurity and operational insights to its joint customers—connecting the Illumio Core and Splunk platforms. In June 2020, Illumio partnered with Crowdstrike, enabling Crowdstike customers to use “Illumio Edge” without any additional software.
The company serves Fortune 100 companies including Morgan Stanley, BNP Paribas, and Salesforce; and had reported 100% international sales growth during the Covid-19 pandemic. Illumio joined the cohort of Solista’s Zero Trust Alliance in July 2021, to assist Australian organizations in developing a toolset and framework in assessing their zero trust readiness while detecting and remediating internal and external threats.
In June 2021, Illumio raised USD 225 million in a Series F funding round led by Thoma Bravo, valuing the company at USD 2.75 billion. The company expects to use the funding for product development, investment in customer success, and bolstering its channel partnership network.
