Equip Health is a digital eating disorder treatment provider that began its operations with a focus on individuals aged 6 to 24. Equip uses a family-based treatment approach by providing patients and their families a dedicated five-person care team; a therapist, dietitian, physician, peer mentor, and family mentor. Sessions can be booked according to a family’s schedule and need instead of sending the patient away to a residential treatment facility.
In September 2023, the company announced the extension of its services to adults. The new program for adults had contracts with more than 15 health plans, including national payers and Medicaid plans. The company plans to use a different approach to treating adults, relying on cognitive behavior-enhanced (CBT-E) therapy while also including loved ones in therapy.
Key customers and partnerships
As of September 2024, the product was available in 50 states, and Equip Health worked with 12 major commercial health insurance providers in the US, including Aetna, Anthem, Cigna, Horizon, Magellan Health, Optum, and United Healthcare.
