Synkar Autonomous is a Brazilian-Canadian startup developing a sidewalk delivery droid adaptable for various tasks including last-mile delivery, indoor logistics, and sidewalk inspection. The robots can carry a payload of up to 66 lbs. with the capacity to operate for 12 working hours. The units are equipped with AI, cameras, radars, ultrasonic sensors, and semantic segmentation for autonomous navigation. The company also operates the “SARA” adaptive API to handle the robot’s telemetry and monitoring and also allows partner companies to develop their own proprietary functionalities and customize operations.
The company adopts a subscription-based robots-as-a-service business model. It has operations in Brazil, Canada, and Ireland.
Key customers and partnerships
Synkar Autonomous has conducted delivery pilots in partnership with iFood, a South American online food ordering and delivery platform (in Brazil; May 2021).
The company partnered with Microart Services, a Canada-based Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) provider, to build its robotic delivery droid (December 2022). Synkar’s also has partnerships with Jacto, an industrial vehicles manufacturer based in Brazil; Kevares, a Canadian alliance developing autonomous mobile robots; and Transpoco, an Ireland-based provider of fleet telematics solutions.
Funding and financials
In May 2021, Synkar Autonomous received seed funding (amount undisclosed) from iFood.
