ECARX is an AutoTech company that offers a range of turnkey hardware and software solutions for smart vehicle manufacturers. Its offerings span across advanced in-vehicle infotainment, digital cockpits, vehicle chipset solutions, a core operating system, and driver assist solutions. The company regularly collaborates with a range of system-on-a-chip (SoC) technology providers to power its in-vehicle computing products. The company’s flagship digital cockpit platform, Makalu, leverages AMD’s Ryzen Embedded V2000 processors and AMD Radeon RX 6000 Series GPUs to offer advanced computing power and visual graphic rendering capabilities for in-vehicle applications such as 3D navigation systems and gaming.

In March 2024, ECARX unveiled the Atlas and Pikes computing platforms powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon SoCs to power global OEMs' infotainment and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). It also introduced the Qogir computing platform, co-developed with Xingji Meizu Group, to support 8K displays and hardware ray tracing in infotainment systems as well as the AD1000 SoC, developed with SiEngine, for autonomous driving applications.

The company’s other notable products include the Super Brain and Skyland Pro central computing platforms for ADAS and the Cloudpeak cross-domain software stack. It claims that Super Brain can enable OEM’s to reduce wiring throughout the vehicle by 5% as well as reduce R&D and components costs by up to 15% and 20%, respectively.

As of March 2024, ECARX is based in 11 major locations across China, the UK, the US, Sweden, Germany and Malaysia. 

ECARX generated revenue of USD 657.1 million and reported a non-GAAP adjusted EBITDA of USD 100.2 million in the year ended December 2023. The company has been listed on the Nasdaq since December 2022 via a merger with a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC), which valued the combined entity at USD 3.8 billion.

Key customers and partnerships

As of March 2024, ECARX has deployed its solutions in over 6 million vehicles worldwide across 16 large global automotive OEMs and 25 brands including Lotus, Lynk, Polestar, Smart, Volvo Cars, FAW, and Dongfeng Peugeot-Citroën.

The company has entered a range of strategic partnerships to further enhance its product offerings. In February 2023, the company partnered with SiEngine, an automotive semiconductor company FAW, a Chinese automaker, to develop digital cockpits based on the former’s SE1000 SoC for FAW vehicles. In May 2023, it went on to partner with video game development company Epic Games to leverage its Unreal Engine to power in-vehicle digital cockpits and infotainment applications with advanced 3D rendering capabilities. 

ECARX partnered with Microsoft in March 2024 to leverage Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service and Azure Cloud Computing Services to integrate large language models (LLMs) into its intelligent cockpits and autonomous driving solutions. Furthermore, ECARX also partnered with companies such as DXC Luxoft , Tencent Smart Transportation, and Lianyou Zhilian Technology to jointly develop intelligent driving and cockpit solutions.
