Parallux

Parallux is a startup that has developed a technology called Mass Audience Synchronization Solution (MASS), which enables large-scale shared virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) experiences for audiences of any size. The company's platform allows up to 50 co-located viewers to see and hear immersive VR content from their unique perspectives within a shared virtual environment.

In April 2019, Parallux unveiled its MASS technology at the Tribeca Film Festival by premiering a VR short film called "CAVE." This experience transported up to 30 people at a time to the prehistoric era of 10,000 BC, where they could collectively experience a story while embodied as virtual avatars. Parallux's approach aims to solve the isolation and accessibility issues often associated with traditional VR experiences by maximizing the number of people who can share the same virtual world simultaneously.

The company's technology was born out of research conducted at NYU's Future Reality Lab. Parallux creates both the underlying shared VR platform and original narrative content experiences tailored for collective audiences. As of April 2019, the startup was working on a new 20-minute VR origin story experience based on Frankenstein, designed for audiences of up to 50 people.
