Mustgrow Biologics

MustGrow Biologics Corp. is an agriculture biotech company focused on developing organic biocontrol, soil amendment, and biofertility products derived from mustard plants. Their proprietary technologies leverage the natural defense mechanisms of mustard to provide sustainable solutions for crop protection, soil health, and yield enhancement.

MustGrow's flagship product, TerraMG, is a mustard-derived soil biopesticide designed as a preplant soil treatment for controlling diseases like clubroot in canola and aphanomyces in pulse crops. In laboratory settings, TerraMG has demonstrated 100% control of the devastating Fusarium wilt TR4 disease affecting banana plantations worldwide. Field trials have also shown positive results, with reduced disease symptoms and no phytotoxic effects.

Another key offering is TerraSante, an organic biofertility product certified by the USDA National Organic Program (OMRI Listed). TerraSante aims to promote soil microbiome health, improve nutrient and water use efficiencies, and increase plant yields without artificial additives or preservatives. It contains nutritious plant proteins and carbohydrates that feed beneficial soil microbes, potentially enhancing microbial activity and long-term soil health.

MustGrow has secured commercial agreements with global giants like Bayer, Janssen PMP (a division of Johnson & Johnson), Sumitomo Corporation, and Univar Solutions' NexusBioAg to develop and commercialize its mustard-based technologies. Notably, Bayer has exclusive rights to develop and market MustGrow's biocontrol soil applications in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

In December 2023, MustGrow revealed a partnership with Bayer AG, estimated to generate between USD 35 million and USD 40 million in upfront payments, milestone payments, and development work over the next five to seven years. MustGrow will receive royalties and manufacturing sales fees from this collaboration.

Key customers and partnerships

MustGrow has partnered with NexusBioAg, a division of Univar Solutions, to conduct large-scale field trials of TerraMG through NexusBioAg's 2024 BioAdvantage Trials (BAT) Program.

In May 2024, MustGrow secured an exclusive distribution agreement with G.S. Long Co., Inc. for its TerraSante biofertility product in Oregon and Washington State. G.S. Long Company is a family-owned agricultural retailer with over 40 state-licensed Crop Advisors, providing consulting services to generational growers in the region.

MustGrow has also joined the Global Alliance Against TR4, a consortium focused on combating Fusarium wilt TR4 in bananas. This collaboration involves leading banana industry players such as Bayer, Chiquita, Del Monte, Dole, and Fyffes, leveraging MustGrow's promising biofungicide technology against TR4.
