Phantom Space Corporation

Based in Arizona, Phantom Space is a space transportation technology development and manufacturing company, with a vision to become the "Henry Ford of Space Transportation" by mass manufacturing launch vehicles, satellites, and space propulsion systems. The company was co-founded by inventors and entrepreneurs Jim Cantrell, Michael D'Angelo, and Michal Prywata.

Its first workhorse launch vehicle, Daytona, is a mass manufactured expendable two-stage rocket which is capable of transporting satellites and other space cargo into Earth’s orbit and beyond. Daytona is slated for its first orbital launch in Q1 2023 and is capable of lifting 1,000 lbs. (450 kilograms) to low Earth orbit on each USD 4 million mission. Phantom Space is also developing a more powerful rocket called Laguna, to be launched in 2024, which will feature a reusable first stage. The rocket will be able to deliver 2,650 lbs. (1,200 kg) to low Earth orbit at a price of USD 8 million per launch. The company is also involved in satellite programs, spacecraft design, and various space missions.

Funding and financials

In April 2021, the company raised USD 5 million in seed funding led by Chenel Capital. The funding was expected to go toward increasing Phantom's team, making space commerce commonplace, and lowering the barriers to space access. In November 2021, the company raised USD 21.6 million in a venture round by Caravela Capital.
