Sunrise

Belgium-based Sunrise is a health technology company focused on sleep, which offers at-home tests to diagnose users for sleep apnea. The company’s at-home test uses a light-weight sensor paired with an app to measure a user’s sleep and then presents the results. The sensor is attached on a user’s chin and measures mandibular movement to provide a diagnosis in a few hours. After the diagnosis is presented to the user, they are able to consult virtually with sleep specialists to receive treatment. 

The company operates across Europe, Australia, and the US and has received De Novo classification from the FDA. The company operates on a B2B2C basis, where it works with healthcare providers to offer its solution and service. Patients are required to obtain a prescription before they can purchase the sensor. 

In February 2024, Sunrise acquired Dreem Health, expanding its capabilities in sleep diagnostics and health services. This acquisition aimed to integrate Dreem’s expertise in sleep monitoring with Sunrise's innovative diagnostic technologies, broadening its service offerings and improving patient outcomes.

Key customers and partnerships

In May 2023, the company partnered with UK-based Signifier Medical Technologies, a treatment provider for sleep disordered breathing and snoring, to combine Signifier’s “eXciteOSA” solution with Sunrise’s patient management portal. Through the partnership, healthcare providers were able to better diagnose patients, gather patient data, and provide patients with necessary tools for treatment. The partnership also helped Sunrise expand its geographical reach into the UK.
