Founded in 2019 by Derek Hall, Donna Litt, Joseph Fung, and Robert Chaplinsky, Uvaro primarily offers 4 and 12-week tech sales-focused online courses that leverage data from sales playbooks used by over 20,000 professionals. These courses include coaching, paid experience, as well as on-demand and live classes. Uvaro also offers a deferred tuition model and scholarship fund targeted at lowering career-changing barriers that affect minorities. Additionally, the company’s virtual internships enable organizations to hire employees through an alumni network of qualified professionals that have completed the program. Since its launch, Uvaro has produced over 300 graduates with an 80% job placement rate, and the company claims that an average student secures a new role in under 17 days from graduation at more than twice their previous income.
In October 2021, Uvaro raised CAD 14.8 million (USD 12 million) in Series A funding led by White Star Capital. Christopher Bourke, from White Star, joined the company’s board of directors. The funds were earmarked for scaling the company's programming, developing its core product offerings, and enhancing its network of mentors, instructors, and subject matter experts. Additionally, the company plans to launch a full-time, four-week program focused on career seeking.
