Based in Germany, Headmade Materials offers additive manufacturing (AM) solutions by combining 3D printing and powder metallurgy solutions. The company offers cold metal fusion technology that embeds primary metal powders into a plastic matrix. Its materials include 1) Stainless Steel 316L, an acid-resistant steel alloy used in mechanical components; 2) Titanium Ti6Al4V, a low-density temperature-resistant metal used in aerospace and medical applications; 3) Titanium CP-Ti, used in the chemical, aerospace, and medical industries; and 4) tungsten, an alloy that serves the medical, aerospace, and automotive sectors. Using the same technology, the company can also adapt individual alloys given by the customer to make them available for 3D printing. Headmade Materials also provides on-demand AM services by connecting customers to a service provider.
Key customers and partnerships
Some of the company’s customers include cycle manufacturer Sturdy Cycles, titanium printer Elment22, and manufacturing company MIMplus.
In September 2023, the company partnered with Nexa3D to expand metal 3D-printing capabilities with ColdMetalFusion technology.
Funding and financials
In February 2022, Headmade Materials received approximately USD 2.6 million (EUR 2.5 million) from AM Ventures and approximately USD 6 million (EUR 5.8 million) from the Innovation Council of the European Union. The funds were expected to be used to expand product portfolio and capacity as well as for global expansion.
