Canada-based Carbon Corp (formerly C2CNT) converts CO₂ captured from flue gas and direct air capture (DAC) to produce carbon nanotubes. The company operates the business through its subsidiary Carbon Corp.
Carbon Corp uses a proprietary process called electrolysis in molten salts to convert CO₂ into these high-value materials. This process not only captures CO₂ but also produces materials that can be used in various industrial applications, addressing carbon emissions and material innovation.
Carbon Power is a strategic investor of Carbon Corp. In December 2020, Carbon Power increased its equity interest in Carbon Corp from 25% to 40% for CAD 13 million (USD 10 million) with additional investment in the first quarter of 2021. Carbon Power’s Genesee Carbon Conversion Centre, the world’s largest commercial-scale production facility of carbon nanotubes, uses Carbon Corp’s technology and was expected to be operational during the first half of 2022, producing up to 7,500 tons of carbon nanotubes annually.
