GUGLER Water Turbines

GUGLER Water Turbines GmbH is an Austrian family-owned engineering and contracting company specializing in hydropower solutions. With over 90 years of experience, they supply water turbines (Kaplan, Francis, and Pelton) up to 25 MW and complete electromechanical equipment, including turbines, generators, valves, switchgear, transformers, and control systems on a turnkey basis. Their turbine technology caters to small and medium-sized hydro power plants, offering water-to-wire solutions. Additionally, GUGLER provides specialized turbines such as micro turbines, container turbines, siphon turbines, gate turbines, and turbines for drinking water pipelines globally.

In January 2022, GUGLER secured a major contract with Kiangan Mini Hydro Corporation in the Philippines for the design, supply, installation, and commissioning of four Francis turbines and related electromechanical equipment for a new 17.49 MW hydropower project in Kiangan, Ifugao. This project comprises two separate hydropower plants, one equipped with two five MW Francis turbines and the other with two Francis turbines of 4.6 MW and three MW capacity.

Furthermore, in June 2023, GUGLER entered into a partnership with Repower Energy Development Corp. to develop seawater pumped storage projects in the Philippines. Their first project under this agreement is a 320 MW seawater pumped storage facility in Luzon, with an initial development of a 50 MW facility.

Key customers and partnerships

In the Philippines, GUGLER has been actively involved in hydropower projects, with the Kiangan project being their 10th awarded contract in the country.

GUGLER has forged a notable partnership with Repower Energy Development Corp., a subsidiary of Pure Energy Holdings Corp., to introduce seawater pumped storage technology in the Philippines. This collaboration aims to replicate GUGLER's success in a similar venture in South Korea.
