Aidhere was a German developer of prescription digital therapeutics (PDTs) founded in 2020. The company's primary product was zanadio, a digital obesity therapy app approved as a Digitale Gesundheitsanwendungen (DiGA) in Germany. Zanadio was designed to provide a digital and multimodal weight reduction treatment for patients diagnosed with obesity. The app achieved long-term behavioral change and significant weight loss of 8% in patients at the end of 12 months. As a permanently approved DiGA, zanadio was reimbursed by all statutory health insurers in Germany for patients with a BMI from 30 to 40 kg/m². By September 2022, zanadio had fulfilled over 50,000 prescriptions and was recognized as one of the top-performing digital health products within Germany's regulated nationwide DiGA formulary. Over 10,000 doctors prescribed the app. In October 2023, aidhere was acquired by Sidekick Health, a global digital health company based in Iceland, in a strategic move to expand Sidekick's portfolio into the prescription digital therapeutics market.
Key customers and partnerships
Aidhere's primary customers were patients with obesity in Germany who received prescriptions for zanadio through their doctors. The company worked within the German healthcare system, particularly with statutory health insurers who reimbursed the cost of the app for eligible patients.
