European Energy

European Energy is a leading Danish developer of renewable energy projects, primarily focused on wind, solar, and battery storage solutions. Established in 2004, the company has rapidly expanded its operations globally, with offices in multiple countries, including Italy and Australia. European Energy's core business model involves the full project cycle, encompassing development, financing, construction, power sales, asset management, and the implementation of Power-to-X technologies such as green hydrogen and e-methanol production.

As of 2021, European Energy had a remarkable pipeline portfolio of over 34.3GW of renewable energy projects under development. The company has demonstrated its prowess in executing large-scale projects, with the construction of over 1GW of renewable projects across 23 countries in 2021 alone. European Energy aims to further increase its output, with plans to construct over 1.5GW of new projects in 2022.

In January 2022, European Energy solidified its position in the Italian market by completing the sale of the Troia Solar park, Italy's largest solar park, to Iren Energia. The solar park boasts an impressive installed capacity of 103MW, comprising over 275,000 solar panels. Additionally, European Energy sold its 18.5MW Palo solar plant, bringing the total capacity sold to 121.5MW. Despite these divestments, the company remains committed to maintaining a strong presence in Italy, with a project pipeline exceeding 2GW and plans to invest over EUR 800 million over the next four years.

European Energy has also made strategic acquisitions to bolster its portfolio, such as the purchase of a majority stake in a 700MW solar portfolio in Colorado, US, by its North American division. The portfolio consists of two projects, Sandy Hill and Sand Dune, with a combined capacity of 700MW, and construction is planned to commence in 2025. This acquisition aligns with European Energy's ambitious goal of developing 10GW of renewable energy projects in the US by 2026.
