International Recycling Group (IRG) collects plastic scrap from municipalities and industries and converts them into pellets for sale to producers of recycled products.
As of March 2024, IRG is building a supersized plastics recycling plant, SuperPRF™, to process all types and grades of post-use plastic, expected to process about 500 million pounds of material by 2025.
Key customers and partnerships
IRG has also partnered with tech startup SmartBlock Beverages FZ (a United Arab Emirates-based startup), in May 2021, to develop a smartphone app to operate an Uber-type model for plastic waste collection that will support its recycling program.
Funding and financials
In December 2022, the company received a USD 509,000 Rail Freight Assistance Program (RFAP) grant for constructing a rail siding to IRG’s new plastic recycling plant. In November 2022, the company received a USD 5 million Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) grant for IRG’s facility development and construction.
