Wilkinson Baking Company designs and manufactures a fully-automated 120” x 53” robotic bakery called “Breadbot”. The robot was unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2019, after over 20 years of research and development. Breadbot is capable of mixing, proofing, forming, baking, and cooling bread, and can produce 10 loaves an hour. The robot takes 90 minutes to produce the first loaf of bread, and thereafter produces one in every six minutes. Breadbot can operate 24/7, but requires around 30 minutes of daily cleaning.
In July 2022, the company deployed its first commercial-ready BreadBot at Andy’s Market grocery store in College Place, Washington. The company plans to have 20 additional units deployed by early 2023.
In October 2022, Wilkinson Baking Company raised USD 3 million in a seed round led by Ken Peterson of Columbia Ventures Corporation along with Rich Product Ventures. The company intends to utilize the funds to build and deploy additional BreadBots.
Key competitors: None comparable (Wilkinson Baking Company is the only startup offering an automated bread-making robot)
