Green Li-ion

Green Li-ion is a Singapore-based company specializing in battery recycling technologies. The company’s proprietary Green-Hydrorejuvenation (GLMC-1) technology recycles 100% of used lithium batteries, allowing the direct re-manufacturing of battery-grade cathode material suitable for new batteries. Green Li-ion installs and licenses its modules to recyclers, battery OEMs, and cathode producers across the US, Europe, Middle East, Australia, and Singapore. The company intended to start operations in its first commercial plant in Oklahoma by Q4 2023.

In March 2024, Green Li-ion was granted a patent for the process of removing impurities within a lithium-ion battery recycling process. The company’s modular units manufactured in Houston, Texas, can process up to four to six metric tons of end-of-life batteries per day to produce precursor cathode active material at battery grade. The company works toward a technology shift that improves battery recyclers' margins by up to 4x, reduces environmental impact, and produces cathode material meeting US, EU, and AU regulatory requirements. 

Key customers and partnerships

In March 2024, Green Li-ion partnered with battery recycling companies Durapower Holdings and GLC Recycle to recycle lithium-ion batteries into new battery materials in Southeast Asia.

Funding and financials

In March 2023, Green Li-ion raised USD 20.5 million in pre-Series B funding led by TRIREC to expand its manufacturing capacity to produce 50 Green Li-ion modular units annually. In September 2023, the company received an undisclosed investment from Twin Towers Ventures (TTV), the investment arm of PETRONAS Ventures to scale up the manufacturing of Green Li-ion’s recycling units.
