Cube Dev offers a headless abstraction layer called the “Cube” that sits between cloud data warehouses and data applications, connecting data silos and making data available to all applications and tools.
The Cube enables BI tools (such as Tableau and Microsoft Power BI), open-source (such as Apache Superset), or custom applications using embedded analytics platforms to query the same data model. This ensures that all types of queries use consistent definitions for metrics and dimensions by leveraging a single, unified data source. Cube's platform allows companies to consume data from any data source, organize it into consistent definitions, and use it with every application. It abstracts away all individualized configuration so that any application can tap into an organization's enterprise metrics without needing specific knowledge about underlying data schemas and how to transform them. The definitions in the data model are reusable across different tools and teams within an organization, resulting in more efficient collaboration.
An organization can configure Cube once to access data sources, define data models, cache queries, and act as a single connection point for data. This eliminates the need for businesses to configure each data application separately, reducing duplicated effort and ensuring consistent security and performance. Important metrics like "quarterly revenue" or "net sales" will have the same meaning across different teams and applications.
Key customers and partnerships
In October 2024, Cube entered into a strategic partnership with Coalesce to integrate its abstraction layer with the latter’s platform to help data teams manage data pipelines and streamline self-service analytics.
