CrowdSec offers an endpoint detection and response (EDR) platform that relies on crowdsourcing to collect a database of risky IP addresses detected by the company’s platform. It then uses the information to deny any access requests originating from these addresses across all CrowdSec users.
The company launched its platform in December 2020 and has a client base spanning across more than 90 countries, with an accumulated database comprising several hundred thousand malicious IP addresses. As of October 2022, CrowdSec reported over 100,000 installations from sectors such as government, e-commerce, media, and financial services.
CrowdSec offers its platform under a SaaS subscription model for up to USD 99 per month, and includes a free basic plan with limited features.
Funding and financials
In October 2022, the company raised EUR 14 million (~USD 13.7 million) in a Series A funding round led by Supernova Invest. The funds were utilized to more than double its headcount, develop its tech stack, expand its operations in the US, and grow its user network by 10x.
