The Local Culinary is a Miami-based cloud kitchen operator coupling a culinary-driven, virtual restaurant approach to ordering with a franchise model.
The company offers 50 distinctive brands for franchisees to choose from, including Chef Burger, El Taco Loco and Yoko Bowl. Not only do the brands cross-utilize ingredients but the model allows independent restaurants to license The Local Culinary’s restaurant concepts and leverage under-utilized kitchen spaces and equipment to grow their offering and expand their customer base. For delivery, The Local Culinary has partnered with aggregators such as UberEats, Postmates, GrubHub, and DoorDash.
According to the company, the onboarding process for the franchising program takes 10-20 days and includes training of the franchisee’s team, the setting up of their kitchen (if required), provision of tablets with the software application for orders, and organizing packaging. The Local Culinary charges franchisee restaurants a 10% monthly fee on gross sales obtained through its brands, with restaurateurs estimated to make around USD 35,000 per month.
As of January 2022, the company had over 100 locations. In February 2022, reports surfaced of the company having signed on to international locations in the UAE and Belgium.
