Stairwell

Stairwell, which emerged from stealth in October 2020, comprises a security team from big-name enterprises such as Google and Mandiant. It applies an expressive query language to expedite recursive threat hunting, detection, and incident response via its Inception platform.

The Inception platform uses an inside-out approach to security by treating all company data as suspicious, and continuously evaluating them against new indicators and emerging insights to create new threat intelligence. The company pre-preserves the data as evidence to detect anomalies within just a few days compared to the industry average of 287. It then delivers actionable insights and tailored defenses to help security teams (CISOs, threat hunters, incident responders, and SOC analysts) uncover compromises across the past, present, and future states in an organization’s environment.

Funding and financials

In October 2022, the company raised USD 45 million in a Series B funding round led by Section 32. The funds were utilized to scale its flagship product—Inception.
