Operation HOPE is a non-profit organization founded in 1992 by John Hope Bryant with the mission of expanding economic opportunity through financial literacy and access to resources. Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, Operation HOPE aims to empower underserved communities by providing free financial education and coaching services across the US.
Operation HOPE offers a variety of programs and services focused on improving financial literacy and capability:
Financial coaching and credit counseling
Homeownership assistance
Small business development support
Youth financial education
Disaster financial recovery services
Financial wellness programs for employees
The organization delivers these services through its network of HOPE Inside locations, which are financial literacy centers often located within bank branches, government offices, and other community spaces. As of 2023, Operation HOPE had 285 HOPE Inside locations across the country.
In recent years, Operation HOPE has launched several major initiatives to further its mission. These include the "1 Million Black Businesses" initiative aimed at supporting Black entrepreneurs, the Financial Literacy for All movement to promote financial education nationally, and The 1865 Project to help close the racial wealth gap. The organization has also expanded its partnerships with major corporations and financial institutions to reach more individuals and communities in need of financial empowerment.
