Slim.AI provides a SaaS platform built on the open-source project DockerSlim (created by Quest), which provides automated tools for developers to create, build, deploy, run, and secure their container applications. The company has designed an automated container-based workflow system (Know Your Container) to guide developers and minimize the risk of shipping codes with vulnerabilities.
Slim.AI provides developers with “Google-like” search and locate for containers across multiple container registries, such as Docker Hub, Amazon Elastic Container Registry, Microsoft Container Registry, and RedHat Quay. This enables developers to visualize and gain deep insights on the security profile and composition that makes up the container. The company has revealed future integrations with GitHub and GitLab. Slim.AI planned to add capabilities that automate the process of removing unwanted software (such as package managers and libraries) from a container in late February or early March 2022. In Q2 2022, Slim.AI planned to introduce plugins on its platform with a third-party tool that allows developers to eliminate vulnerabilities to secure and optimize container images.
Slim.AI provides a free version of its platform for developers and planned to capture a large user base before beginning its first commercialization efforts in H2 2022. As of January 2022, the early access program for the Slim.AI platform counted several thousand users.
In January 2022, the company raised USD 31 million in a Series A funding round co-led by Insight Partners and StepStone Group. The funds were to be utilized to advance its platform and more than double its team of 20 in 2022.
