SellerX is a company that acquires and scales successful third-party seller businesses on Amazon's Fulfilled by Amazon (FBA) platform. Established in 2020, the Berlin-based startup aims to build a portfolio of consumer brands by acquiring FBA sellers and providing capital and operational expertise to drive their growth across new channels, markets, and product launches.
SellerX targets evergreen product categories with long lifecycles, such as household goods, pet supplies, and gardening supplies, where a brand story can be built around the products. The company looks for sellers with a proven track record of success, generating at least EUR 1 million in revenue, growing at a minimum of 30% year-over-year, and achieving contribution margins of at least 20%. SellerX values brands with a strong "review moat" – a high volume of authentic, positive customer reviews that translate into organic searchability on Amazon.
After acquiring a seller, SellerX leverages its technological platform, supply chain infrastructure, and operational expertise to optimize and expand the brand. By the end of 2021, the company aimed to achieve a revenue run rate of EUR 20 million. As of June 2023, SellerX had acquired over 50 ecommerce brands and managed a portfolio encompassing over 40,000 consumer goods products with combined sales exceeding EUR 400 million. In June 2023, SellerX acquired the US-based ecommerce aggregator Elevate Brands, merging the two companies into SellerX Group.
