Soelect develops advanced solid-state lithium-metal battery components to power EVs, consumer electronics, power tools, and other applications. The company’s key innovations are the LiX anode technology and solid electrolyte membrane (SEM) technology.
Soelect states that its solid-state lithium-metal batteries would improve EV charging capabilities by 80%, reducing the charging time to 15 minutes. SEM developed by Soelect is polymer-based and free-standing, meaning it can be applied on any electrode material without sacrificing its ionic conductivity at various temperatures and voltages.
Key customers and partnerships
In April 2022, Soelect partnered with Lotte Chemical and announced the intention to invest USD 200 million in a joint venture to build a production plant in the US. The company also plans to use lithium mined in the US to eliminate dependence on other countries for raw materials.
Funding and financials
Soelect’s most recent financing round was in February 2022 , when it raised USD 11 million in Series A funding led by Lotte Ventures. The proceeds were to be used to develop and commercialize Soelect’s technology.
