Naoden is a company that provides decarbonized energy production solutions through gasification technology. Their approach involves converting solid fuels, such as biomass, industrial waste, and other resources, into synthesis gas (syngas) using a thermochemical process called pyro-gasification. The syngas produced can either be burned directly to generate heat or used in a co-generation unit to produce both heat and electricity.
Naoden's solutions are modular, standardized, and adaptable to customer needs. They can utilize various feedstocks, including class A and B woods, fruit pits and shells, and non-recovered industrial resources. The company is also investing in research and development to expand its capability to use Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF) and wastewater treatment sludge.
By employing this technology, industrial businesses can reduce greenhouse gas emissions, comply with carbon quotas, and generate their own energy. In January 2022, Naoden acquired a biomass project, further solidifying its position in the renewable energy sector.
One notable deployment of Naoden's solution is at the Bouyer Leroux brick manufacturing plant near Cholet. Four Nobilis modules consume 3,500 tons of biomass annually to produce 1,200 thermal kW of syngas, which is burned directly on dual burners to supply a portion of the energy required for the brick kiln. This allows Bouyer Leroux to generate its own energy while reducing expenses related to gas, waste, and carbon quotas. The only by-product is biochar, a carbon-rich residue used in agriculture and breeding.
