Mibo, formerly known as Borrel, is a Dutch video meeting platform designed for formal and informal events such as virtual meetings, remote gatherings, and networking events. The platform integrates proximity technology into its video meetings to bring communication into 3D worlds ranging from tropical islands to workshop spaces. The platform is browser-based and does not require additional VR hardware.
Launched in October 2020, Mibo’s customers include Microsoft, Google, Netflix, Disney, Nike, Warner Bros, and Unicef. The company also reported over 250,000 users in the first four months of operations.
In April 2021, the company announced that it had raised EUR 1 million (USD 1.2 million) in a funding round led by Peak Capital to finance talent acquisition in areas such as sales and marketing, customer success, and product integrations as well as an international expansion and growth through partnerships.
