Based in Canada, Nexii is a developer of prefabricated commercial buildings and structures. The company uses a proprietary building system and a material called Nexiite - a sustainable alternative to concrete, wood, and steel - to achieve near-zero construction waste. The company claims this system is 75% faster compared to traditional manufacturing.
As of July 2022, Nexii operated with three manufacturing plants in Saskatchewan (Canada), Squamish-British Columbia (Canada), and Hazleton (US). Three other plants were in development in Vancouver Island, British Columbia (Canada), Pittsburgh (US), and Texas (US). The plant in Hazleton served the Northeastern US market, while the Texas plant was expected to serve the Southern US markets. Third parties manage the plants in the US through Nexii’s certified manufacturing program.
Key customers and partnerships
In September 2021, Nexii partnered with Siemens to offer Siemens’ eVehicle charging equipment and power distribution solutions along with Nexii’s products. The company also partnered with Trane Technologies to offer Trane’s climate comfort systems with Nexii’s product offerings to reduce energy usage and carbon emissions. Some of Nexii’s notable customers include Starbucks, Popeyes, and Marriott hotels.
Funding and financials
In July 2022, Nexii raised CAD 45 million (~USD 35 million), bringing its total funding raised to USD 119.5 million and valuing the company at over USD 1.5 billion. The funds were to be directed toward expanding Nexii’s manufacturing capacity to meet growing demand for sustainable construction.
