Gardin

Gardin is a British startup offering sensor-based technology solutions to farmers by using optical phenotyping technology and machine learning. The company’s optical sensor-based technology allows farmers to monitor biochemical processes of crop production remotely and make informed decisions about water levels, harvest times, and even monitor the photosynthesis process. Gardin’s technology is also focused on controlled environment agriculture farming (CEA) and targets “go-to-market” clients such as supermarket chains, food producers, and vertical farms.

As of December 2021, the company reported that it serves clients across Europe and North America and claims to serve a significant number of clients in the vertical farms and greenhouses spaces.

Gardin is also backed by the UK government innovation agency, which has provided the company with a grant as a part of the agency’s GBP 25 million (US 33 million) funding allocation for the development of innovative technologies. In December 2021 , the company raised USD 10.8 million in a seed funding round led by Molten Ventures. The fresh funds are being funneled toward the development of its sensors and to add advanced analytics features such as crop forecasting and nutritional density mapping to its technology solution.
