Joes Future Food is a Chinese cultivated meat company based in Nanjing. The company focuses on developing cell-cultured pork products, aiming to provide sustainable and low-carbon meat alternatives in China. Joes Future Food was officially registered in December 2019, following the creation of China's first cultivated pork by Prof. Zhou Guanghong and his team at Nanjing Agricultural University in November 2019. The company has made significant progress in its technology, improving production efficiency from 5g of cultivated pork in 20 days to 50g in the same timeframe by November 2020. Joes Future Food has developed solutions for stem cell isolation and maintenance, serum-free cell culture media, and large-scale cultivation of stem cells at relatively high cell density. Their current product resembles minced pork, with plans to customize the nutritional profile and texture to meet consumer preferences. The company has also successfully developed a serum-free culture medium, which is crucial for reducing production costs and scaling up operations.
