Arena Innovation offers a mobile smart gym in the form of a portable, connected strength training system designed as a step box that can be controlled via smart devices. The equipment, dubbed “ARENA unit,” comes with a classic straight bar, single handle grip, tricep rope, and ankle strap and is equipped with sensors to track movements and is priced at USD 2,999. It incorporates technologies such as direct drive (to transmit motor power directly without intermediate components), a rapid-charge battery, and an electric motor. Weighing approximately 60 lbs, it is capable of creating resistance of more than 200 lbs. Arena also offers a separate mobile application, available free of charge as of July 2021, allowing users to adjust resistance levels and display its library of self-guided workout content. The programs are created by certified strength and conditioning coaches and trainers who have worked with leading athletes and teams.
In July 2021, Arena raised USD 5.2 million in a seed funding round from investors, including Courtside Ventures, Powerhouse Capital, and Wellness Holding, as well as several angel investors. The company intends to utilize the funds to support the commercial launch of its product, which is at the pilot manufacturing stage as of July 2021.
