Mountaintop Studios (Mountaintop) is in the development stages of its first title, a multiplayer shooting game, that emulates a genre of video games that is highly successful in esports. As of August 2021, Mountaintop’s team includes 35 developers including former employees of large-scale developers such as Epic Games, Blizzard Entertainment, Infinity Ward, and Ubisoft.Mountaintop Studios raised USD 30 million in a Series A funding round led by Andreessen Horowitz in August 2021. The round included the participation of Spark Capital, Founders Fund, and Detroit Venture Partners. As a result of the investment, Jon Lai (Partner, Andreessen Horowitz) is expected to join Mountaintop’s board. The round follows its USD 5.5 million Seed fundraise in February 2021 with the fresh funds expected to be funneled toward hiring and the launch of its first title.
