Not So Dark is a French developer of virtual restaurant brands. The company initially operated a network of cloud kitchens, a concept the company abandoned after its Series A round to focus on building virtual restaurant brands. It offers nine virtual brands including Vegedal, Como Kitchen, Coquillettes, JFK Burgers, Fat Panda, Gaïa Pita, and Walida.
The company offers its partner restaurants recipes and sources ingredients in order for the restaurants to prepare and distribute the recipes. The brands are available to order via third-party delivery platforms such as Deliveroo and Uber Eats. Not So Dark provides its restaurant partners with an app that integrates orders from different third-party delivery platforms. Additionally, Not So Dark runs ad campaigns and optimizes the listings on Uber Eats and Deliveroo by adjusting prices in real time depending on competitors to provide its restaurant brands a competitive advantage.
As of September 2022, the company operated its virtual brands in 60 cities across France, UK, and Belgium. The company has 300 virtual restaurant partnerships and serves 6,500 customers daily.
In September 2022, Not So Dark raised USD 80 million in a Series B funding round led by Kharis Capital and Verlinvest with participation from Convivialité Ventures. The company planned to use the funding to build the biggest virtual franchise.
