Next Meats is a Japanese plant-based food startup that develops beef (short-rib, skirt steak, pieces), pork, chicken, and seafood (tuna) alternatives. In 2022, Next Meats expanded its portfolio with a whole-cut, premium-grade, Japanese plant-based wagyu. This was manufactured in its US facility and was the first to feature carbon-neutral packaging.
Next Meat products are available at retailers and food service outlets in Japan, Singapore, and the US.
Key customers and partnerships
In December 2020, Next Meats signed a partnership agreement with the Japanese trading company Toyota Tsusho to strengthen its distribution overseas. In April 2021, the company partnered with Japanese restaurant Aburi-EN to launch its products in Singapore. Further, the startup partnered with the US burger chain, Wayback Burgers, to give out free sliders to consumers at the Sacramento Vegan Food Festival, marking the first launch in the US. In February 2023 , the company partnered with Dutch vegetable and fruit producer/distributor, Van Gelder, to participate in HORECAVA—the largest food and hospitality convention in Amsterdam since 1957–and expand distribution to Europe.
