Based in California, ByFusion works with material recovery facilities (MRFs), municipalities, and corporations to collect wasted plastic of all types and recycle them into blocks that can be used in the construction of walls, terraces, sheds, and more. The company’s ByFusion system, which converts plastic waste into construction-grade building material called “ByBlock”, comes in two forms. One is designed for communities (Community Blocker – smaller version, processes 30 tons per month) and the other for industrials (Industrial Blocker – processes up to 90 tons per month).
BuFusion partnered with Ocean Voyages Institute (OVI) in August 2020 to convert 20 tons of marine debris and plastic waste into 4,000 construction-grade building blocks to be used in projects, exhibitions, and products. The company’s target is to recycle 100 million tons of plastic waste by 2030.
