Aitme is a German startup offering a fully autonomous restaurant kiosk that prepares food within five minutes of the order being placed. The kiosk holds more than 40 hot and cold ingredients and can prepare meals from a menu of 10 different dishes, including pasta, rice, and salads. The robot occupies around 32 sq. ft. and is equipped with two robotic arms to hold ingredients and induction cookers for cooking and mixing. Customers can order via a tablet attached to the kiosk and watch their meals being prepared live. The kiosk can prepare more than 120 meals per hour. Aitme utilizes patented and TUV-tested plasma technology to clean the kitchen via ionization, and exhaust air is recirculated into the kitchen as purified air.
The startup unveiled the prototype in December 2020 and has been testing the machine in a shop in Auguststrasse in Berlin-Mitte since February 2021. In March 2021, Aitme announced its plans to produce and sell five more units during the year, with the kiosk primarily pitched as a canteen for workplaces.
Aitme raised USD 9 million in a June 2021 venture round from HV Capital, Vorwerk Ventures, Global Founders Capital (GFC) and La Famiglia for product development and national-scale expansion.
