NYXL

Andbox is an esports organization launched by Sterling VC, a sports, esports, media, and real estate fund founded by the Wilpon and Katz families. Andbox initially owned and operated two esports teams, the New York Excelsior (NYXL) of the Overwatch League and the New York Subliners of the Call of Duty League. In September 2020, the company launched New York’s first Valorant esports team. Andbox announced its expansion into mobile esports via a partnership with the mobile esports team Trovo Mayhem in June 2021. Its mobile esports team will compete in Call of Duty under the name NYSL Mayhem. As a result, the NYSL will become the first Call of Duty franchise to also have a mobile esports team representing it in Call of Duty. The company announced that filmmaker, writer, and businessman James Frey had joined as the company’s first CEO in January 2022.

In February 2021, the company entered into a multi-year deal with ASTRO Gaming, an audio peripherals manufacturer. ASTRO Gaming will become the official audio partner for Andbox’s New York Subliners, New York Excelsior, and its Valorant roster. The teams will use ASTRO Gaming headsets during competitions, practice, and live streams, while its logo will be featured on Andbox team jerseys.
