Faircraft is a French biotech startup that produces lab-grown leather through cellular agriculture. Founded in 2021, the company uses animal skin cells to replicate the structure and composition of traditional leather. The company’s products target the luxury segment of the fashion industry. Faircraft uses a proprietary material discovery platform that it uses to fine-tune materials at the cellular level to create customized leather products. While the manufacturing costs of Faircraft's lab-grown leather are higher than traditional leather, the company reports that it is working toward achieving price parity with industry-standard leather.

Faircraft claims its lab-grown leather production results in 90% fewer CO2 emissions, 95% less waste, and 80% less water usage compared to conventional leather manufacturing. The company holds two international patents and has developed a proprietary, standardized process suited to scalability, which is implemented entirely in-house.
