Snack Break is a developer of communication apps and its enterprise app Popcorn is a short-form audio and video messaging app that aims to replace emails, texts, Slack messages, or Zoom calls in the workplace. It allows users to create short videos of up to 60 seconds (called ‘pops’) that can be used in business networking or team communication (through its Slack integration) for daily check-ins and ongoing project discussions. The company plans to launch AR frames that are expected to allow users to personalize their messages. As of August 2021, the product was available for free, with paid tiers to be released soon.
Popcorn was co-founded by serial entrepreneur Justin Spraggins who has previously worked on multiple ventures such as Looksee (a photo-sharing app), Unmute (a social calling app), and 9 Count (a social app development platform).
In August 2021, the company raised USD 400,000 in a pre-seed round led by General Catalyst and Dream Machine. Popcorn revealed plans to raise funding through a seed round in the fall of 2021 to boost hiring.
