Asynchronous Store and Forward Service
?

Founded in May 2020, Tiny Health provides an asynchronous store and forwarding service for parents to test their baby’s gut health non-invasively. Testing kits come with the necessary materials to obtain a stool sample and return the sample to Tiny Health. The company then returns a personalized gut health report, which includes recommendations for improving the baby’s gut health through nutrition, diet, supplements, and lifestyle changes. The company currently has microbe biomarkers to measure allergic diseases, colic, sleep troubles, constipation, and obesity in the later stages of life. The company plans to develop additional biomarkers for Type 1 Diabetes, Celiac disease, Gluten intolerance, and other autoimmune and behavioral disorders.

As of March 2024, Tiny Health has observed average month-by-month revenue growth of 25% since its inception in April 2022. Additionally, the company has served over 25,000 families with their at-home microbiome test kit.

Key customers and partnerships

In September 2023, Astarte Medical, a pediatric clinical intelligence company, and Tiny Health formed a joint venture to develop a clinical-facing solution to support gut health for preterm and critically ill infants in the neonatal ICU. Through the partnership, Astarte Medical's NICUbiome dataset and NICUtrition EMR-integration platform was combined with Tiny Health's gut microbiome testing expertise to help healthcare providers identify and stratify risks while monitoring the gut health of preterm babies.

Most recently, in June 2024, Tiny Health partnered with Rupa Health, a platform for specialty laboratory testing, to broaden access to comprehensive at-home microbiome testing. The partnership allowed Rupa Health's network of over 30 lab companies across the US to order Tiny Health's Gut Health Tests, PRO Gut Health Tests, and Vaginal Tests directly through Rupa's platform. The collaboration aimed to enhance preventive care, address health issues at the root cause, and improve health outcomes, especially for children during their crucial immune development phase in the first 1,000 days.

Funding and financials

In March 2024, Tiny Health raised USD 8.5 million in a Series A funding round led by Spero Ventures, along with participation from other venture capital firms. The funding was set aside to extend Tiny Health's product development, specifically its strain tracking technology. It was also utilized to bolster its partnerships team and support the B2B arm for clinical clients and wholesale relationships. Additionally, the company planned to fund two clinical studies for health outcome improvement.
