UK-based Autonomous Flight is focused on developing advanced autonomous eVTOLs. The company claims to have delivered Britain’s first eVTOL aircraft, Y6S, a two-seater aircraft, which led to its flagship Y6S Plus Aircraft.
The Y6S Plus Aircraft is designed as a six-seater capable of autonomous operation, but during initial stages, it would have a pilot onboard along with up to five passengers before transitioning to unmanned flights. The aircraft would offer a range of around 80 miles and cruise at 125 mph. The aircraft is equipped with six independent rotors for triple redundancy flight control. The company had plans to commence flight testing of a full-scale prototype of its six-seat eVTOL aircraft by the end of 2023. In December 2021, the company opened an order book for the Y6S Plus aircraft, which it aimed to start delivering in 2024. Y6S Plus was to initially launch in the UK and US, with plans for a global rollout eventually.
Funding and financials
In April 2021 , the company secured GBP 5 million (~USD 7 million) as part of a GBP 25 million Series A funding round from private investors and institutions for the development of its eVTOL.
