Scania, a subsidiary of Traton (formerly known as Volkswagen Truck & Bus), is a Sweden-based manufacturer of commercial heavy lorries, trucks, and buses. The company also makes diesel engines for heavy vehicles, marine environments, and general industrial applications.

Scania has an autonomous transport portfolio that includes autonomous trucks, handling logistics, vehicle task management, and communication platforms between vehicles and infrastructure. The trucks, called Scania AXL, use artificial intelligence (AI) and can interpret and adapt to the surrounding environment. The concept trucks were in the development stages as of January 2021, and will first be tested in controlled environments such as mines and ports.

Furthermore, Scania also develops automatic braking systems and lane keeping software for autonomous navigation. Its latest product, “Electric Active Steering (EAS),” introduced in November 2020, features lane keeping assistance, a lane departure warning with active steering, and lane change collision prevention alerts, among others.
