Knowunity

Founded in 2019 by Gen Z entrepreneurs, Knowunity, is a Germany-based online learning platform with a vertically-focused mobile app that facilitates peer-to-peer learning. It allows top-ranking students (“knowers”) to create and publish their educational content to support learners to better understand the course curriculum, and it is personalized to users' country and language preferences. The platform’s creator tools are used by knowers to develop content, profiles, and followings to expand its market reach which in turn drives continuous referrals back to Knowunity’s platform. Student engagement is conducted via direct messaging and resources, and support is provided through group discussions and community-based engagement. As of September 2022, the platform had 350,000+ learning content contributed by knowers and more than 3.1 million users across Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Poland, and the UK. 

Funding and financials  

In February 2023, the company raised EUR 9 million in an extended Series A funding round that was co-led by Stride and Redalpine. The funds were primarily used for product development, with plans to increase the workforce to 110–120 employees by the end of the year. Knowunity also planned to expand its operations to the US and Spain, with the Spanish launch set for April, and considered expanding to other continents by end-2023/early-2024. The round followed its EUR 10 million raised in May 2022.
