Sweden-based Earthbanc operates a carbon credit and finance platform. The company’s proprietary platform allows individuals and businesses to purchase fully audited carbon credits or invest in carbon removal. Earthbanc’s carbon credit portfolio includes land restoration; regenerative agriculture; agroforestry; large-scale reforestation; blue carbon including mangroves, seagrass meadows, and kelp; marine conservation; agrivoltaics; and many more.
Earthbanc leverages AI, web3, and data science to conduct annual audits on its carbon stocks and credits covering over 13 million hectares of forest globally by using satellites and proprietary remote sensing technology.
The company is developing the Earthbanc Protocol on Regen Ledger to store and audit carbon data on the blockchain-based carbon trading marketplace. Earthbanc also has plans to mint carbon credits on Regen Registry, a publicly governed carbon credit registry operated by Regen Network.
Key customers and partnerships
In August 2021 , Earthbanc worked closely with Swedbank Lithuania to deliver a pilot project on carbon reporting automation and carbon offsets. The company had also partnered with telecommunications provider Talia to supply carbon offsets by leveraging the company’s patent-pending technology. In May 2022, Earthbanc was approached by the African Development Bank for the issuance of the world’s first sustainable land bond (SLB) with fully audited carbon removal. This model was already proven in India , where the company issued an SLB to investors with a 6% annual yield.
Funding and financials
In December 2022, Earthbanc raised USD 350,000 in a seed funding round. In April 2022, the company raised USD 1.5 million in a pre-seed funding round led by multiple investors. The proceeds were used to launch the Earthbanc Protocol and web3 platform on Regen Registry and to onboard 150,000 farmers on the waitlist in South Asia and Africa.
