Eta Compute is a company focused on developing ultra-low power AI solutions for edge devices. The company's flagship product is the ECM3532 Neural Sensor Processor, which features a hybrid multi-core architecture with a Cortex-M3 microcontroller and a CoolFlux DSP for accelerating machine learning operations. This System-on-Chip (SoC) supports Continuous Voltage Frequency Scaling, allowing for dynamic adjustment of clock rate and voltage to maximize energy efficiency in machine learning algorithms.
Eta Compute offers development boards based on the ECM3532, including the AI Vision Board and the AI Sensor Board. The AI Vision Board, introduced in March 2021, is a compact 1.5-inch square board designed for prototyping, field testing, and deploying AI embedded vision applications. It integrates various sensors, including a camera, microphone, and accelerometer/gyroscope, along with Bluetooth Low Energy connectivity. The board's ultra-low power consumption enables it to run vision applications for extended periods on a single battery.
The company's technology is suitable for applications such as sound classification, keyword spotting, gesture detection, defect detection, image classification, and person and object detection and counting. Eta Compute's solutions are supported by its TENSAI Flow software and are compatible with Edge Impulse's machine learning development platform, facilitating rapid development of energy-efficient AI applications.
In December 2020, Eta Compute announced a strategic pivot, transforming from a silicon-focused company to a system solutions provider specializing in AI at ultra-low power for edge devices. As part of this transition, the company entered into a partnership with Synaptics, which included an investment from Synaptics and an exclusive licensing agreement for Eta Compute's TENSAI Flow software.
