Gathered Foods

Gathered Foods is a leader in the plant-based foods industry, specializing in developing and producing innovative plant-based proteins. The company was founded in 2016 and is best known for creating the Good Catch brand of plant-based seafood alternatives. Good Catch's product line included plant-based tuna, fish burgers, crab cakes, and fish sticks, utilizing a proprietary six-legume blend to mimic the texture and flavor of seafood. In September 2022, Gathered Foods sold the North American business of Good Catch to Wicked Kitchen, another plant-based food company, while retaining rights to sell products under the Swell Catch brand in over 20 countries outside North America.

Following this divestiture, Gathered Foods shifted its focus to a B2B model. The company now operates through three fully-owned business units: Trellis, a US production facility (which was later sold in July 2024); Cultivated Food Labs, an R&D site in Vancouver, B.C.; and Gathered Proteins, a proprietary plant-based protein library. Gathered Foods continues to develop ingredients and finished goods for the B2B, private label, and food service sectors. The company's Cultivated Food Labs innovation center in Vancouver remains one of its key assets, supported by its technical team.

In July 2024, Gathered Foods sold its Trellis production facility in Heath, Ohio, to Ahimsa Companies, a newly formed holding company for plant-based brands. The facility, commissioned in 2020, was dedicated to producing top-quality plant-based foods and held various certifications including BRC 'AA' designation, non-GMO Project verification, and vegan, halal, and kosher certifications. Despite the sale, Gathered Foods maintains a strategic operating and IP partnership with Ahimsa Companies for both the facility and Ahimsa's broader portfolio of consumer packaged goods holdings.
